Open tour inside of the colon in Insurgents
Colon cancer causes nine deaths in Mexico and 58 new diagnoses per day, which places it in a more aggressive disease, said Mayra Galindo, director of the Mexican Association for the Fight against cancer.

At the opening of the exhibition "Giant Colon" on the esplanade of Insurgentes, Galindo called on health authorities to include this condition in the treatments covered by the Seguro Popular, because a diagnosis made early can save lives especially in the northern states of Mexico, where people tend to eat much meat and low in fiber and water.

The director of the Mexican Association Against Cancer, said the main objective of the exhibition, whose length is seven meters long, is that people can "take a tour inside the colon."

The show is set in an interactive tunnel that muyestran and giant animated images on the functioning of that body, plus it provides information about symptoms that anticipate the development of cancer cells such as gastritis.

Galindo said it is very important to note that colorectal cancer is a condition that if detected early can be curable, so it is important to ensure appropriate care of people who are diagnosed with this evil.

The main risk factors include poor eating habits (like eating much animal fat and low fiber), a high body mass index, consumption of alcoholic beverages exesivo, physical inactivity and being over 50 years.
